U.S. Marines storm the beach under the security of ROK amphibious assault vehicles during a rehearsal for the amphibious assault portion of exercise Ssang Yong 2014 at Dokseuk-ri in Pohang, Republic of Korea March 29. Ssang Yong demonstrates the ROK-U.S. Navy and Marine Corps’ responsive amphibious and expeditionary capabilities from the sea. Forward-deployed and forward-based U.S. Marine forces, in conjunction with U.S. allies, have the unique ability to provide rapid force deployment for the full range of military operations, specifically in the Pacific region. The Marines are with Company G, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force under the unit deployment program.
